WebinarThis Orthopaedic Trauma Association webinar focuses on the management of periarticular bone loss in acute fracture care, a difficult reconstructive problem in which substantial bone defects can complicate fixation and joint preservation.
The programme examines strategies for treating bone loss around joints in complex upper- and lower-extremity fractures. Particular attention is given to reconstruction of large defects with osteoarticular allografts and to recognising situations in which arthroplasty may provide a better option than conventional fracture reconstruction.
The session also draws on techniques and experience from musculoskeletal oncology, where reconstruction of major periarticular bone defects is more frequently encountered. The aim is to help orthopaedic trauma surgeons understand the available reconstructive options and make better-informed decisions when substantial bone loss is present at the time of acute fracture treatment.

The live webinar takes place on 30 September 2026 and runs for approximately one hour. It is accredited for up to 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Participation is free for OTA members and USD 40 for non-members.
