The session is intended for orthopaedic surgeons at different stages of their careers who want to understand the range of available practice settings. The faculty will explain the acute care orthopaedics model, examine how it differs from other employment structures and discuss its potential advantages and disadvantages. The webinar therefore focuses on career organisation and professional practice rather than the diagnosis or surgical treatment of acute injuries.
Participants can expect a practical discussion of where acute care orthopaedics fits within contemporary trauma services and what surgeons should consider when evaluating this type of role. The programme may be particularly useful for residents, fellows and established surgeons considering a change in employment model, as well as departments exploring different ways to organise the delivery of urgent orthopaedic trauma care.
The webinar is moderated by Jonathan Scherl, MD, MBA, with contributions from Amy Ravindra, MD, and Phil Krueger, MD. It is delivered as a live 60-minute online event through the OTA education platform.
