International Osteotomy Course Basel 2027

28.01.2027 – 29.01.2027
Biozentrum and Anatomical Institute, Basel, Switzerland

The International Osteotomy Course Basel 2027 takes place on 28 and 29 January at the Biozentrum and Anatomical Institute in Basel. Led by Florian Imhoff and Mario Morgenstern of University Hospital Basel, the course combines basic and advanced training in deformity correction, with lectures, practical workshops and case discussions.

The basic module is intended for surgeons new to deformity correction. It covers digital 2D analysis and planning, indications for osteotomies around the knee, and step-by-step surgical techniques. Sawbone workshops include high tibial and distal femoral osteotomies, alongside discussion of meniscal, cartilage and ligament problems.

The advanced module is designed for surgeons with prior deformity-correction experience. It includes 3D planning with patient-specific guides, gait analysis, bone-defect reconstruction and osteotomy combined with partial arthroplasty. Workshops cover patient-specific instrumentation and hexapod applications, with cadaveric surgical training at the Anatomical Institute. Shared sessions address postoperative management, hinge fractures, non-union, infection and conversion to total knee arthroplasty.

The international faculty includes Willem-Jan Metsemakers, Jamie Ferguson, Michael Hirschmann, Gerrit Bode, Andreas Imhoff and Björn Vogt. The course carries 12 swiss orthopaedics credits, with AGA and GEVR patronage and DKG certification. Registration is accessed through an account on the official course website.
