ConferenceTERMIS-AP 2026 will bring the Asia-Pacific tissue engineering and regenerative medicine community to Christchurch, New Zealand, from 27 to 30 October 2026. Researchers, clinicians, engineers, industry specialists and policymakers from across the region and beyond will meet to examine how emerging regenerative technologies can move from laboratory research towards clinical use, scalable manufacturing and commercial application.
The conference theme, “Converging Cultures and Strategies in Translational Regenerative Medicine,” places particular emphasis on the challenges that arise between scientific discovery and practical implementation. Participants can expect plenary lectures, specialist symposia, concurrent scientific sessions, poster presentations, workshops and opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange. The programme is designed to connect basic research with clinical needs, regulatory requirements, manufacturing considerations and the development of treatments that can ultimately improve patient care.
Several programme areas are directly relevant to orthopaedics and musculoskeletal regeneration. Dedicated sessions address biomaterials and cell-based approaches for bone, cartilage, tendon and connective-tissue repair; regenerative medicine for osteoarthritis; engineered stem-cell environments; extracellular vesicles; biofabrication; bioprinting and advanced tissue models. Further themes include smart and bioactive biomaterials, biodegradable metals, antimicrobial interfaces, immunomodulatory materials and the interaction between implanted materials and host tissue.
TERMIS-AP 2026 also looks beyond the experimental performance of a material or therapy. Sessions on clinical translation, Good Manufacturing Practice, regulatory pathways, commercialisation and industry partnerships will explore what is required to turn promising biomaterials, cellular therapies and tissue-engineered products into reproducible and clinically usable solutions. This makes the meeting relevant not only to academic researchers, but also to clinicians, product developers and companies working in regenerative medicine, orthopaedic biomaterials and medical technology.
The scientific programme is in English, and abstracts and symposium proposals are submitted in English. This supports international participation across the Asia-Pacific region and makes the conference accessible to attendees travelling from Europe, North America and other parts of the world. TERMIS-AP 2026 is hosted by TERMIS together with the Australasian Society for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering and the University of Otago.
